History of myCampus and Kryptos Mobile
In 2003, a consortium consisting of leading research universities in the United States including Kansas State University, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Case Western Reserve University, University of Montana and Washington State University joined forces to create myCampus, a shared repository of Oracle Portal and uPortal portlets that integrated to commonly used applications such as Blackboard, Banner, Colleague and Peoplesoft so that each institution could avoid reinventing the wheel. In 2006, myCampus introduced a reference higher education enterprise portal implementation, based on Oracle Portal, that included a shared repository of portlets. By 2009, over 250 colleges and universities around the world including Queensland University of Technology, Imperial College London and Indian Institute of Management had implemented the myCampus enterprise portal. In 2008, myCampus was renamed to LookingGlass and was transitioned to a cloud-based service hosted in Amazon’s AWS.
In 2010, a consortium consisting of leading colleges including The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Case Western Reserve University, University of Montana, Kansas State University, and Washington State University joined forces to create Kryptos Mobile, a cloud-based, self-service mobile app platform that enabled colleges to create and deliver apps to an increasing smartphone-savvy students. The Kryptos Mobile platform included an app store that included apps that integrated with appliations suich as Canvas, Blackboard, Desire2Learn, Moodle, Blackboard, Banner, Colleague and Peoplesoft and enabled colleges to share apps with each other. Over 200 colleges had adopted Kryptos Mobile worldwide. In 2015, the Govenment of India entered into an agreement with Kryptos Mobile to modernize over 25,000 colleges and universities in India.
2016 Merger of LookingGlass and Kryptos Mobile
In 2016, LookingGlass and Kryptos Mobile merged with the vision of providing one cloud-based platform that would deliver a seamless, integrated, and personalized student engagement and student information system across on smartphones and web browsers.
